Ordinary World got his career over fences off to the best possible start by taking the Winter Festival December 3rd & 4th Beginners Chase in great style at Fairyhouse.
The Milan gelding had proved a shade disappointing after landing a maiden hurdle at Tipperary 12 months ago but really looked the part in this two-mile event.
The 6/1 chance made most of the running and, after putting in a fine round of jumping including a flamboyant leap at the last, kept on strongly to beat stable-companion Attribution by four lengths.
This completed a double on the afternoon for Davy Russell but his colleague Bryan Cooper was again in the wars suffering a suspected broken arm after 5/6 favourite Ball D’Arc exited at the first.
Winning trainer Henry de Bromhead said, “I always hoped that this would be his game from the first day he jumped with us.
“He was a bit disappointing over hurdles last season, although he was running well when he fell at the last in a good handicap here won by Clondaw Warrior. He’ll probably go for a novice race next.”
