He probably should have won last week, he was left 15 lengths. I really fancied him last week, to be honest, and to finish where he did was an unbelievable run (seventh at this track). I took the tongue-tie off today, he was still a bit slow away, but I think that might have helped. I'm delighted for Donal (Byrne), he's a new owner to the yard and it's great to have him. He's a west of Ireland man and hopefully he'll go to Galway, that'll be the plan. He might go to Ballinrobe at the end of next month and then on to Galway. We bought him to win races and, hopefully, we'll have plenty of fun with him, if we can sort out the stalls a bit more.

He came out of the race lovely the other night and I was always going to let him run there. There's a chance he will be claimed now - I put in a friendly claim, but I'm sure there will be one or two others.

His win in November worked out well. I reached for the blinkers today because he had lost five or six lengths out of the gates the last twice. He has come back off a lay-off today nice and fresh, and the rider was outstanding I thought. He is in again on Friday (in a claimer over the same distance) and that is the plan, we'll see what happens.

River Derwent has been coming down the weights although we thought he might never win! . He had been running better recently - he was fifth a couple of weeks ago and wasn't really lasting (over a mile), but the seven seemed to suit him well. Adam is very, very good, is very strong for an apprentice and rides with his head. We will have three or four to run for the winter. It has been a good year and a winner here makes the long journey (from Gowran) worthwhile.
