The young lad gave him a great ride. It's his first winner over fences and hasn't had many rides over fences. He came down to school and ride out and I thought he rode well. He has ridden plenty on the Flat and rides out for Brendan Duke. It's unusual to see a race cut up so much in Ireland, you'd be looking over in England and you'd be giving out. It was great for me but not for anybody else!. He gave a great round of jumping and hopefully he can go on to Tipperary now. He's definitely a better chaser than he was a hurdler. He jumped his hurdles too big and I thought he was kind of windy but fences suit him as he jumps the hurdles like fences. Once he started jumping fences, he attacked them. A great little horse and the boys have got plenty of money off him a few times. The horses are running really well and everybody at home helps out which makes a big difference.

He has been knocking on the door. I like using Luke (Dempsey) but we thought we needed to claim off of him to get over the line. That young lad is great value for his claim and he rode very cool and didn't panic at any stage. I was begging him to kick on but I'm glad he didn't, he did the right thing - I just wanted him to win! . He will come back here next month for the four-year-old only handicap hurdle, that's kind of been his aim all year. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him now.

After race at Navan Wed, 7th Oct, 2020 (1st)
It was a great ride. I didn't give him (Luke McAteer) any instructions as he knows him, he's great value for the 7lb. It's the last day he has that claim. The 7lb helped with the 10lb raise and the soft ground helped. I was actually going to pull him out at Tipperary last time because it was good ground. I was delighted with the soft ground. If he improves a bit he'll be fine but I think his future may lie over jumps in time, he jumps brilliant. I don't know what he'll get for this but we'll probably try one more on the Flat. I don't think we'll go hurdling this year as I think he's just a little bit weak. He's improved all year and was quite a weak horse at the start.

After race at Tipperary Tue, 15th Sep, 2020 (1st)
I was nearly going to pull him out due to the quick ground, but all the lads said it was safe so we took a punt. It was too short for him over six at Fairyhouse and Rory Cleary (jockey then) said 'what are you doing?' and to step him up in trip on softer ground. We got away with the ground today, but he could improve again on softer ground. The owner (Philip Carney) was going to punt him and I told him that today was the day if he was going to back him: it wasn't that we thought he was a world-beater, but it was the right race. Hopefully he will win a few more and he jumps hurdles great.
