We love this horse and he's one of the yard favourites. He's gorgeous physically, he has really matured. He's no good without blinkers. He surprised us last summer when he won on Champions Weekend on top of the ground because we always thought he was a soft ground horse, a typical Zoffany. We do okay with our Zoffanys. We were sort of protecting him with the Ebor in mind and then this came around. The first text I got was from David Spratt and it said 'Melbourne Cup', he just hates Ireland — he just wants to travel!. We'll tell him to get his visa sorted and go on but he'll be on his own. I'm happy where I am. He's done fantastically, I never look at what I'm up against and I knew he'd run well. It's a Group 2 but we don't put them in it just to turn out. David and I will discuss plans over the weekend, he's a nice horse.

What a day and that's special because Gary is such a huge part of the team. To give him a Champions Weekend winner is fantastic. He's as nice a person as you could meet in a day's walk and probably the best judge in Ireland so he's a huge asset to me. He has enough intelligence and enough experience to read what the race is doing and then has the confidence to do what he did. It was the winning of the race so fair play to him. You don't like beating yourself but isn't it a high class problem. I was happy with two for the weekend and anything after that was a bonus. As long as they all run their races, that's our rules. I didn't want to be going home scratching my head. It's the first day I'm back racing, and (owners) Sean (Jones) and David (Spratt). Leopardstown do a fantastic job anyway but Champions Weekend is special. It was a great innovation by Irish racing and it's getting stronger and stronger.

He’s a horse that was meant to go to Hong Kong but needs that ground. He travelled all the way around. Sam gave him a lovely ride and he showed a nice turn of foot to take it up. The ground is important and it’s just nice soft ground. He’s a lovely framed horse and will be a lovely four-year-old. That will probably be it for this year and he’ll be a nice horse for the spring. He’ll stay a bit further.

I like Killarney and I said I'd rather have runners down here as it is my mid-term break,. He is a nice colt and we put him in the Beresford Stakes this morning, even though my rule is we don't enter until they've earned it; they have to win to qualify in my book. We thought he'd run well and Colin said he was a bit clueless when they came around him and instead of bullying him he, let him find his own way and put his head in front on the line. He is a nice colt who I didn't expect to run until October as he has next year written all over him.
