Canelo (10/1), Rock On Fruity (10/1) and Unowhatimeanharry (12/1) had been on the mark for him earlier, and De Name Escapes Me joined the J P McManus Saturday winner’s party with success in the Naas November Handicap.
McManus also had favourite Cerberus (11th) for this closing day turf highlight, but it was the Noel Meade-trained and Oisin Orr-ridden ten-year-old De Name Escapes Me that came to the fore.
Seven years his junior Camorra was the one to give the 10/1 scorer most to do. The successful chestnut held on by a neck.
De Name Escapes Me chased the leaders, and he was ridden in fourth two furlongs out.
Making headway to lead a furlong out, the near veteran son of Vinnie Roe stayed on well in the final furlong. He was all out at the line.
Hot-on-the-heels of this Modus bounded home at Aintree to make it five on the afternoon for McManus and there could be more to come.
“He deserved to win a good pot on the Flat and he came from a long way back in the Cesarewitch. He’s held his form well and the plan was to be a bit closer to the pace today," explained Meade.
“He’s very high over hurdles and I presume he’ll have a crack at another chase somewhere. We’ll probably freshen him up and find something around Christmas time.
“He’s a bit cowardly over fences, and he shows a lot of class on the Flat that he doesn’t show over jumps. I thought he had a big chance at Newbury a few years ago and he was gone after the first.”
W.J. Lee, rider of Takarengo trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered at the first bend.
M.P. Sheehy, rider of Cerberus (GB) trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount fly leaped on leaving the starting stalls.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Takarengo, trained by Thomas Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards reviewed an incident at the first bend where Takarengo, ridden by W.J. Lee, was hampered. Having viewed a recording of the incident at that point of the race the Stewards decided that no further action was warranted.
At the request of the Stewards, L.F. Roche, rider of Walking On Glass trained by Padraig Roche, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled throughout this race.
