After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The winner, Mister Upton (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Plumpton on 1 April 2024 where the gelding finished fourth of eleven runners, beaten by 45 lengths.
Chris Gordon’s explanation that Mister Upton (GB) had benefitted from switching to chasing from hurdling was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Phil The Sock (IRE), ridden by Tabitha Worsley and trained by Phil York, which was pulled up, was considered in light of this being the fifth consecutive occasion that the gelding had failed to finish a race.
The trainer was interviewed and their comments were forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Following the race, Tabitha Worsley reported that Phil The Sock (IRE), which was pulled up, was outpaced.
