Permission was given for Gherkin (GB) and Suanni (GB) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries, and for Gherkin (GB) to be mounted in the chute.
The winner Bankrupt (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 23 September 2023, where the gelding finished eighth of twelve beaten 7¾ lengths.
It was noted that Chelsea Banham could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
An enquiry was held to consider interference 1 furlong out involving Reve De Magritte (FR), placed third, ridden by Daniel Muscutt, and Global Acclamation (GB), unplaced, ridden by Frederick Larson.
Muscutt was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had shifted his mount right-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Larson to have to take a significant check.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Suanni (GB), unplaced, ridden by Liam Wright, The Cola Kid (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Rossa Ryan, Mintana (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joe Leavy, and Global Acclamation (GB), unplaced, ridden by Frederick Larson.
The interference was found to be accidental as Suanni (GB) had ducked sharply right-handed away from The Cola Kid (GB), causing interference to Mintana (GB) and Global Acclamation (GB) in his inside.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that The Cola Kid (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run 1 furlong out.
Oisin Murphy reported that Gherkin (GB), unplaced, hung right under pressure.
Joe Leavy reported that Mintana (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
