The Stewards received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, that War Ensign, trained by J. Halley, was presented with evidence of a skin allergy which was not accompanied by a certificate as required. Evidence was heard from David Harry Kelly, authorised representative of the trainer, who accepted the findings but was satisfied that War Ensign had showed no signs of the condition prior to arrival at the racecourse

Having considered the evidence, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of War Ensign under the provisions of Rule 148(v) and took no further action

The Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Stormy Air (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Michael Carroll, authorised representative of the trainer reported that the first time application of a tongue tie and more favourable ground conditions may have brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards rated 45-65
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra; for each race won.
