An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Silver Dust (IRE), ridden by Jack Garritty and trained by Richard Fahey, which was dropped out shortly after the start and raced at the rear of the field before being asked for an effort approaching the 1 furlong marker where the gelding stayed on one-paced to finish second of seven, beaten by 1½ lengths.

The rider stated his instructions were to drop Silver Dust (IRE) out, fill him up and present the gelding to finish his race in the best possible position.

He added that approaching the 2 furlong marker, he wanted to switch Silver Dust (IRE) out from behind Lequinto (IRE), whom he was taking the lead from, but was unable to as Starry Eyes (USA) was on his outside, so had to switch the gelding right-handed to continue his run.

He further added that he was content with his position and how Silver Dust (IRE) was travelling in relation to the other runners in the early and middle stages of the race and after asking the gelding for an effort approaching the final furlong, Silver Dust (IRE) was able to make up some initial ground and had finished one-paced in relation to the other placed runners.

Garritty added that in his opinion, the gelding had obtained the best possible placing on this occasion after which the Stewards noted his explanation.

Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Hot Summer (GB), placed seventh, hung left-handed throughout.
