The Starter reported that the following jockeys had anticipated the start and were cantering before the flag was dropped: Gavin Sheehan, the rider of The Edgar Wallace (IRE); Henry Brooke, the rider of Ubetya (IRE); Nick Scholfield, the rider of Regal Blue (IRE); Fergus Gillard, the rider of Mylesfromwicklow (IRE); and Mr Sean O’Connor, the rider of Firak (FR).
Being a 7lb claiming amateur, Mr O’Connor was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
The riders and the Starters were interviewed, and recordings of the incident were shown.
Sheehan; Brooke; Gillard and Mr O’Connor were all suspended for 1 day and Schofield was suspended for 2 days as this was his second offence in 12 months, for misconduct at the Start.
Approaching the third last fence, the winner, The Edgar Wallace (IRE), edged left-handed, leaving Mylesfromwicklow (IRE), placed second, tight for room on take-off, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing The Edgar Wallace (IRE).
