Giovanni Royale (GB) ran freely to post and overshot the start but having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
At the first hurdle, My Flying Saucer (GB), which was later pulled up, jumped violently left-handed, bumping heavily with Turnaway (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Universal Dave (GB), placed second, was found to be lame on its right-fore.
