Leaving the stalls, Apache Mist (GB), placed third, jumped left giving a bump to Soberton (GB), unplaced, which stumbled and shifted quickly left, causing interference to Red Carpet Queen (GB), placed fourth, and Mid Day Rush (IRE), placed seventh, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Apache Mist (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 furlong out when Mehmo (IRE), placed second, ridden by Frederick Larson, interfered with Friday (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Marco Ghiani, which in turn interfered with Marta Boy (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Adam Kirby, which caused interference to Likely Successor (GB) (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by George Rooke and Mid Day Rush (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Luke Morris.
Larson was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to shift left handed without timely correction, causing Ghiani to take a check for a number of strides and in turn causing further interference to the three horses on his inside.
Being a 7lb claimer, Larson was offered accompaniment in the enquiry, but declined.
