Permission was given for Granary Queen (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Poetic Force (IRE), trained by Tony Carroll, ran the previous day at Brighton, 9 August 2023, finishing tenth of thirteen runners.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line when Granary Queen (IRE), placed second, ridden by Harry Davies, interfered with Little Boy Blue (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Paddy Bradley, which in turn interfered with Golden Passport (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Connor Planas.
Davies was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed when insufficiently clear of Little Boy Blue (GB) causing Bradley to drift left-handed into the path of Golden Passport (GB), resulting in Planas having to steady for several strides.
The winner, Poetic Force (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Brighton on 9 August 2023 where the gelding finished tenth of thirteen, beaten by 10¾ lengths.
It was noted that Tony Carroll could offer no explanation for Poetic Force (IRE)’s improved form on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Connor Planas reported that Golden Passport (GB), which started favourite and finished fifth, was denied a clear run on the run to the line.
