The Stewards interviewed D.N. Russell, rider of Party Central, concerning his use of the whip in latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip excessively and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that D.N. Russell was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for one raceday. Justice Leonie Reynolds absented herself from this enquiry

The Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the home straight involving Banntown Girl, ridden by D.E

Mullins, Choice Of Words, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe and Humble Glory, ridden by B.J. Cooper, where it appeared Choice Of Words got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.E. Mullins stated that he was aware of the riders on his inner but his mount leaned in for a stride at the point of the bend and he corrected her immediately. D.J. O'Keeffe stated that things got slightly tight for a stride on the bend when he was going backwards. B.J. Cooper stated that he got pressure from both sides. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence,the Stewards were satisfied that the interference was due to general bunching and took no further action other than to remind D.E. Mullins to ride with more awareness in future.
