The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Tiffany Bay, trained by John Patrick Shanahan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Greanta, trained by J. S. Bolger, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards interviewed T.P. O'Shea, rider of Tiffany Bay, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (b), in that he had continued to use his whip after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, they suspended him for four race days.

Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
