The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend past the stands involving Princess Leya, ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed fourth and Queen Alphabet, ridden by D.N. Russell, placed third, where it appeared Queen Alphabet ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D. E. Mullins was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having taken his previous good record in this regard into account, they suspended him for one race day. C.D. Maxwell, rider of Somethingboutnelly trained by D.Harvey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was therefore pulled up.
