The winner, Volcano (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Exeter on 25 February 2022 where the gelding was pulled up in a field of thirteen runners.
Shelia Lewis’ explained that Volcano (FR) was suited by being able to dominate the race on this occasion and was further suited by a return to Warwick, a track which seems to suit the gelding, having won here three times previously.
Her explanation was noted and Volcano (FR) was routine tested.
The Newest One (IRE), placed fourth, did not enter the Winner’s Enclosure on Veterinary advice as the gelding was showing signs of post-race heat stress.
Following the race, Noel Williams reported that Vinnie Dev (IRE), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the Good to Soft, Soft in places ground which in his opinion was riding tacky.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding found it to be showing signs of mild post-race heat stress.
