Permission was given for Pendo (GB) to go early to post.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Affluence (IRE), ridden by Jacob Clark and trained by Martin Smith, which broke adequately from the stalls to be settled at the rear of the field before being asked for an effort in the final two furlongs to run on and finish eighth, beaten by 7 lengths.

Being a 7lb claimer, Clark was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated that his instructions were to ride a patient race and ask for an effort 2 furlongs out, adding that perhaps he had missed the kick when the field went for home 3 furlongs out.

The trainer stated that the ride accorded with these instructions and he was satisfied with the ride considering that Clark was having his first ride under Rules.

He added that he considered that Affluence (IRE) was unsuited by the Soft, Good to Soft in places ground and would prefer a quicker surface.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, Hayley Turner reported that she felt Overtrumped (GB), unplaced, go amiss to attempted to pull the filly up; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Overtrumped (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Eoin Walsh reported that Tebay (IRE), placed seventh, became unbalanced coming down the hill, and the representative of Luke McJannet reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Soft, Good to Soft in places ground and would prefer a quicker surface.
