G.P. Brouder, rider of Hawthorn Echo trained by Peter McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with bad interference at the end of the back straight
A.J. Farragher, rider of Texas Radio trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle slipped at the end of the back straight
The Stewards enquired into an incident at the turn out of the back straight involving Hawthorn Echo, ridden by G.P. Brouder, unplaced, Luna's Luck, ridden by B.M. Coen, unplaced, Bouquet Garni, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed second and Lady Ranger, ridden by D.M. Melia, unplaced, where it appeared that Lady Ranger was tight for room along the running rail and checked thereby losing her position. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, accompanied B.M. Coen and A.J. Slattery at this enquiry. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and took no further action.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards rated 45-65
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra; for each race won.
