The Stewards enquired into an incident turning for home involving Dewcup, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed third, My Mate Mozzie, ridden by D.W. O'Connor, placed second and Phoenix Cowboy (USA), ridden by Sam Ewing, placed first, where it appeared that Dewcup ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. McMonagle stated that his mount is a big raw horse who hit a ridge and became unbalanced and that any interference caused was minor and did not affect his finishing position. D. W. O'Connor stated that his mount changed legs and rolled in slightly. Sam Ewing stated that his mount rolled in as he passed the horse inside him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that while D. W. O'Connor's mount had rolled in for a stride he had taken all reasonable measures to avoid causing interference and they took no further action. The Stewards did however remind D. McMonagle and Sam Ewing of their responsibility to give accurate evidence at enquiries. K. O'Ryan accompanied Sam Ewing at this enquiry

D.W. O'Connor, rider of My Mate Mozzie trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged in at the top of the bend.
