Permission was given for Via Blanca (GB) to be mounted on the course and go to post early, for SEA OF ANGLES to be mounted on the course and for Our Melody (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Nouveaux (GB) unseated Callum Shepherd on the way to post and cantered loose to the start for a short period of time.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and Doctor respectively, both were deemed fit to race.
Via Blanca (GB) reared and unseated its rider at the start.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and Doctor at the start the filly and rider were deemed fit to race.
The Stewards enquired into the circumstances of Ryan Kavanagh, the rider of Via Blanca (GB), being unseated on leaving the stalls.
The Starter was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
The Starter’s explanation that Kavanagh was mounted when Via Blanca (GB) reared as the start was effected was noted and therefore the Stewards were satisfied that Via Blanca (GB) was deemed a runner.
The Stewards were unable to interview Kavanagh due to him being assessed by the Medical Officer.
The Starter reported Via Blanca (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Amy Murphy was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
