An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching and passing the 1 furlong marker involving the winner, Hooflepuff (IRE), ridden by Ben Robinson and Precisely (GB), placed second, ridden by Richard Kingscote.

The Stewards considered that the interference improved Hooflepuff (IRE)’s placing as Precisely (GB) had initially been carried several horse widths off its intended racing line to the rail, before Kingscote was eventually forced to steady and switch his mount right-handed after being tightened for racing room and losing his rightful running, in the process forfeiting ground and significant momentum at a crucial stage of the race, before staying on powerfully to be beaten by a rapidly diminishing neck margin.

The placings were revised as follows: First, Precisely (GB); Second, Hooflepuff (IRE).

Robinson was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had been slow to correct his mount from hanging left-handed, thereby causing interference to Kingscote.

The performance of Mutaraafeq (IRE) which started second-favourite and finished last of the six runners, was considered.

Ivan Furtado could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.

The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Mutaraafeq (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities, other than it had lost its right-fore shoe.
