The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Belgoprince (FR), ridden by L.A. McKenna, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and the trainer's authorised representative, Cathy O'Leary. L.A
McKenna, stated that his instructions were to get his mount jumping, get him confident and get him home as he had flipped his palette last time out. In the race he made a bad mistake at the first and got shuffled back. Jumping the second last he flipped his palette and again on pulling up. The trainer's representative confirmed the instructions and stated that she was satisfied with the ride given to the horse. She stated that the horse was gurgling when she went to pick him up in the chute. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer that Belgoprince (FR) was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found A.J. Martin in breach of Rule 212 (A)(ii) and fined him €2000 through his representative. They also found L.A. McKenna in breach of Rule 212(A)(ii) and suspended him for 10 days and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee. As a consequence they also suspended the horse from running for 42 days. They also found L.A. McKenna in breach of Rule 213 by failing to report something that he felt affected the running of his horse and cautioned him for this breach of rule
