It is lovely for him to win and for a horse with only three runs over hurdles he jumps well. He needed all the assistance and luck he got but won nicely in the end. He needed a couple of great jumps at the last two fences and he got them. He loves the ground and that makes a big difference to him. He can probably do everything (chase, hurdle and flat) but when and where I don't know and I'm not in a hurry with him either. He'll have to go handicap chasing as he wouldn't be good enough for a novice chase. He is the first Galileo I've been lucky enough to train and he's a lovely horse and I'm lucky to have him. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Bendanella, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, and trained by Ross O'Sullivan. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. Ross O'Sullivan, trainer, stated that his charge had a previous history of bleeding and ran his best race when fresh. Today he instructed the rider to take his time, to hang onto his mount for as long as possible and produce him with one run to arrive late as he finds nothing off the bridle. He said that his charge was fit and ready for today but overall he was disappointed with the outcome of the race as he appeared to meet with plenty of trouble and finished strongly when the race was over. O'Regan, rider, stated that the instructions were as relayed by the trainer and in running while his mount was free early on, he settled and jumped very well across the top of the track until being impeded by a faller at the third last fence. He added that from that point he was undecided which route to take on the downhill run as he was alongside the loose horse while at the same time the leaders got away from him which left him further back in the field. In the straight he switched inwards but got impeded before the final fence and was further impeded after the final fence but ran on strongly. He concluded that nothing had worked out in his favour . The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Bendanella was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bendanella, trained by Ross O'Sullivan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

A steeplechase for four yrs old and upwards that have not won a steeplechase and which at entry, are rated 116 or less over hurdles
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 13lb; 5-y-o 11st 11lb; 6-y-o & up 11st 12lb; Mares allowed 7lb; Horses that, at entry, have a published; handicap steeplechase rating of 117 or more; are excluded from this race ; Horses that do not have a published; handicap hurdle rating but are eligible for a; handicap hurdle rating may enter and run; provided their hurdle rating is 116 or less
