An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final hurdle involving The Cashel Man (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jeremiah McGrath and the winner Minella Trump (IRE), ridden by Brian Hughes.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Minella Trump (IRE)’s placing as Minella Trump (IRE) leant on The Cashel Man (IRE) for approximately eight strides approaching the final hurdle causing him to become unbalanced and short of room which resulted in him jumping the last poorly, losing ground and causing him to become more than two lengths adrift.

Taking account of the fact that The Cashel Man (IRE) made up all but half a length of the deficit in just over half a furlong, the Stewards felt that with a clear run he would have won.

The placings were revised as follows: 1st: The Cashel Man (IRE) 2nd: Minella Trump (IRE).

Hughes was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his horse to drift left-handed tightening McGrath for room approaching the final hurdle.
