The Fonze was well supported here and held on for victory from the fast finishing Hassanali.

Johnny Murtagh tracked the leaders and his mount cruised through to lead a furlong-and-a-half out.

He had to get serious in the final furlong and just held the late charge of the runner-up.

Eoin Doyle's charge had run well on his return from a 16-month absence when fourth here last month and built on that effort.

The gelding had attracted support in the morning (9/4 to 6/4) but was originally easy to back on course (7/4 to 2/1) before punters hammered him into 5/4f.

Hassanali would have won in another few strides. He was held up in rear before making ground from the two-furlong pole. Third a furlong out he flew home to press the winner.

He had failed to count in a few decent juvenile hurdles over the winter after a promising enough debut over timber.

Blaze Trailer led briefly two furlongs out before surrendering to the winner. He couldn't match the front two close home.

Masrahi was another to make ground up, staying on in the final furlong. He had also run well here on his penultimate start and there could be a handicap in him over a longer trip.

33/1 shot Paldounix ran well on his return to action. He chased the leaders throughout and kept at it from a furlong-and-a-half out.

He had some fair form over hurdles in 2006 but had shown nothing on the level here previously after being importing from France, where he was a dual winner. He could be capable of scoring off this mark.
