Permission was given for Orgetorix (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1½ furlongs out when the winner, Wink Of An Eye (GB), ridden by Liam Jones, interfered with Year Of The Dragon (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Daniel Muscutt.
Jones was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he was slow to correct his mount from drifting right-handed towards the rail causing Muscutt to have to take a check off Wink Of An Eye (GB)’s heels.
The performance of Daramethos (IRE), which started favourite and finished eighth, beaten by 13 lengths, was considered.
The representative of John & Thady Gosden’s explanation that the colt was unsuited by the Good to Soft ground on this occasion and would prefer a faster surface, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Royston Ffrench reported that Western Symphony (IRE), placed fifth, ran too free and Robbie Downey reported that Orgetorix (GB), placed second, ran too free in the early stages of the race.
