Radiator Rooney forced his way through a gap a furlong out and kept on strongly close home under Fran Berry to get up and deny Herotozero.

Trainer Pat Morris revealed afterwards that his charge has only one eye and he showed plenty of guts to go for the split.

Step It Up, in fifth at that stage, received a bump in the process and was soon finished with afterwards.

Herotozero was produced with a strong run to lead inside the final furlong but had no answer to the late surge of the winner.

Gower (16/1 to 12/1) attracted some support and ran well. He tracked the leader throughout and was ridden to dispute a furlong out before giving way close home.

Speedster Paris Sue went down early and took up her customary front-running role but had no more to offer in the closing stages after being headed inside the final furlong.

Funatfuntasia was ridden in fourth, in behind the leaders, at the furlong marker and kept on without getting close enough to challenge.

Archmani was easy to back (3/1 to 9/2) and proved disappointing. He played up a bit leaving the parade ring and was very awkward jumping from the stalls, trailing throughout afterwards.

Five Satins was on her toes during the preliminaries and was never involved during the race.

The non-runner Tiffany Gardens didn?t make it to the track because of a transport failure.
