Sheila's Hope back on the winning trail
"She bounced back and I'd say the ground was a big factor the last day. I was even worried about this ground being too slow for her," admitted John McConnell after his Sheila's Hope took the Waterboys Apprentice Handicap at Leopardstown under Tom Madden. she's obviously progressing. She's a very straight-forward filly, bowls along and picks up and it looks like she'd stay a mile-and-a-half on that. I don't know what the plans are now. The owner (Peter Commane) and I sit down and then I do what I'm told!. It's great and she's really going the right way. We'll see what the handicapper does, he's probably going to have his way now. You never know with these fillies that keep going the right way. She doesn't owe us anything now anyway and just has the winning habit and knows how to run. That's a good thing to have and not every horse has that.

After race at Fairyhouse Thu, 31st May, 2018 (1st)
that was great and he came out of the race in Cork very well and we thought she'd run very well. It thought she was a great price actually and couldn't believe the price she was. She's progressive, she didn't win by too much so hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on her. She's fun and the owner (Peter Commane) has been very loyal to me. We bought her as a foal and he's been patient with her as she's a big rangy filly and is only maturing now both mentally and physically. I've been telling him she's working well but it didn't really come to fruition until this year. I put her in at Navan next week and we might go there, but we'll see as there is no rush now.

After race at Cork Fri, 18th May, 2018 (1st)
We liked her last year and I even backed her at 66/1 in her first maiden but it was a very good maiden and things just didn't go right for her after that. She had shown plenty of ability at home and if she put it in on the track she'd have a chance and obviously she had a low mark. She is tall and a lot of those Casamento's are backward and she is particularly tall and angular. We haven't planned beyond today.
