I suppose he was the class horse in the race being a Listed winner and I know he has been disappointing but the ground was too soft for him all year. He had a good first run back this year and if he hadn't run twice since on ground which was too hard, he'd have been favourite today. We think he is well handicapped on the flat but can't get the ground for him. We'll try for another 0-140 handicap now and he could either go to Cheltenham later this month or to Leopardstown over Christmas.

After race at Limerick Sun, 23rd Oct, 2022 (1st)
I've had a couple of Group winners on the flat but that's my first Listed winner over jumps. He has been in training all year, has improved and improved. We ran him in a flat maiden at Roscommon when he was off the bridle all the way but I think the race is after improving him. Even though his dam is a half-sister to Death Duty, I was worried about his stamina because he had been free in the past. I left riding instructions up to Danny and he said there was a good enough pace and he settled well. He was off for two years but is back now. I was planning to go for a big handicap at Leopardstown but that's probably gone now. the owners (Eithne Thompson) have that breed since Shannon Spray and all the breed come from her. It is great for them as they are locals from Athlacca.

It is a bit of compensation for the last day and we'll got for a 2m3f Grade B at Cork over Easter. There are also races for him at Punchestown and we'll tip away and see how he gets on. At least the handicapper can't touch him because he is was the highest rated in the race and it was a good confidence booster for him. He is a fair horse and as long as the ground isn't too quick he'll keep going for the summer. Cian is with me and is a good lad. He works hard and deserves his chance and it wasn't his fault the last day.
