Janoobi makes winning return from serious injury
Ger Lyons and Colin Keane doubled up at Naas this afternoon when Janoobi defied a 575-day absence to run out a cosy winner of the Far Above at Compas Stallions Handicap. Sun 24th MarGoing updates
Just the one meeting in Ireland this weekend and, following watering, the ground at the Curragh for this afternoon's eight-race card (first off at 1.20) remains good, good to firm in places with a dry day forecast. Sat 27th AugSierra secures second success
American-bred Sierra Nevada gained a second career win today, landing Naas' three-runner Wesco Electrical 50th Anniversary Race for trainer Jessica Harrington, jockey Shane Foley and owners Flaxman Stables. Sun 21st AugLyons doubles up with Janoobi
Janoobi justified his prohibitive odds when running out a cosy winner of the mile maiden at Cork, giving trainer Ger Lyons a double on the card. Wed 18th MayShort-head win for Hotel Wren
Leopardstown's curtain-raising Flat Is Back Maiden was today won by Hotel Wren which finished well for a short-head win, for trainer Noel Meade and jockey Oisin Orr. Sat 02nd Apr
After race at Naas Sun, 24th Mar, 2024 (1st)
There is a lot of satisfaction in that because he's come back from a massive injury and the team have done a marvellous job,. He wintered with Ronnie Boland and he didn't come into me until he was ready to start back. He had a bad fracture in his front leg and it was touch and go whether he was going to be with us. They did a massive job with him and it's a credit to anyone that had anything to do with him. He started back at the end of last season and he's had a good long prep. He hasn't missed a day since he started with me. It's credit to the horse to come back from an injury like that and to do that first time out. He's a horse that we always liked and it's just a bonus to get him back, to win with him is just massive. He's a good fun horse to have on the team and every day we have with him now is a bonus.
