He deserved that. He's a smashing horse. He's very professional and jumped great. You can see the muck on his heels there and he'd even like it better. The ground made a huge difference today. He even went to Listowel after Galway last year and he was dead in the straight. He's the only horse I have around the place, I have ten in.

He's a lovely horse. He's had huge jumps (in the ratings) from the first day he won, and is improving all the time. I didn't think he was a real winter ground horse but Mark said it was a bit firmer where they went past the hurdles on the far side and he was grand after that. We'll go on a bit longer and hopefully there is another big handicap in him.

I think he's a good horse. We were looking forward to running him at Navan on a big galloping track but it was the right thing to pull him out there on the quick ground. It's lovely ground out there today. There are plenty of those type of races coming up but I don't think he's a real winter, deep-ground horse as he's fairly sharp. I'd say it wasn't a galloping enough track for him in Ballinrobe last time and although this isn't really a galloping track either, it's more of a staying track. He's bred for fences, as he's out of a full-sister to Denman and he's a very good jumper.

That's my first winner for J.P. and it was lovely to get one for him,. I come from Limerick and I learned my trade out where he came from, with P.P. Hogan's brother Gerard in Ballycahane. I started off there and it started the whole thing and myself and J.P. go back to the Queen's Hotel (in Cheltenham) all those years ago in the '70s.
