He's a great horse around here, he just loves that surface. He's very gutsy and that was a great weight-carrying performance. It is a pleasure to have him and his owner is a local man, so it is great for him to have a winner. It's great to see a horse that enjoys it so much. He has earned a break. I'm delighted with the runner-up too. He did (get into a barging match) and Shane (Foley) said he was a bit unlucky, it just didn't happen for him. He finished out well. We stepped him up to a mile and a half to see if he got it, but he got it well and again he is a horse that loves that surface. He's a work in progress, and is getting stronger there all the time.

de did it well. I thought there was no obvious pace in the race, and he had a lovely draw (4), so I said to Mikey, with a light weight on his back, to throw the reins at him and let him go on in front and relax. He relaxed lovely in front and got to dictate it. He galloped out well to the line, it's a good prize (€12,600 for the winner) and he loves the surface. Mikey is very cool and has got a great head on him, he filled him up and got a nice breather into him and then asked him to pick it up. He gave him a very clever ride. I think we might call it a day with him now as he's after winning three this year for us, he's been on the go a good while. We might just give him a break and have him back for the summer. I think he'll only develop and get stronger as time goes on.

Mikey (Sheehy) is very good and is a huge advantage in those apprentice races. He disappointed here after winning his maiden at the Curragh and Niall (McCullagh) thought he made a bit of a noise so we put a tongue tie on him. Shane (Foley) just said he never felt that comfortable the last night but he’s been training well at home. He’s a grand horse with a very good temperament and seems to enjoy the surface. I’d say he’ll tip away here.

He was in training last year but was very weak. I then trained him as a bumper horse and thought that he didn’t quite stay. We then ran over a mile and a half at Ballinrobe and Ronan (Whelan) came in and said this horse has loads of pace and you could drop him back to a mile and a quarter. He’d a very wide draw and I said to Dylan to go forward as he’s a big, long-striding horse and needs a bit of space. It’s worked out great. I’m delighted to have a winner for Frank Lynch as he had horses with us years ago. He’s had to be patient with this horse and I’m delighted that it has paid off. He’s a big, tall horse and is only starting to strengthen up now. He shows a good attitude, loves the ground and got into a lovely rhythm. Dylan gave him a peach of a ride.
