Murphy, placed second, Alfred Munnings, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, Bold Discovery (USA), ridden by L.Dettori, placed sixth, and Salt Lake City, ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, where it appeared Alfred Munnings had to check off heels. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. O. Murphy stated that his mount rolled around but felt he had tried to maintain his racing line. J. A. Heffernan stated that he had a long way to fill the gap but his mount was unable to do so and he took a precautionary check when things got tight. L. Dettori stated that his mount was intimidated by the horse on his outer. C. T. Keane stated that his race was run. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that O. Murphy had taken reasonable steps to avoid causing interference and they therefore took no further action.
