He jumped better the last day, but he got a flier at the last which was the main one. He was immature mentally and physically. I thought his wide draw wouldn't suit him and his style of racing as he likes to be up with the pace. Gavin said there was no point in trying to go forward from 21 so sat in and he said the horse loved it. . He was a nice horse as a three-year-old, has been placed a lot of times since but hadn't won for two years, although was back on a mark where he was capable of winning. He wasn't himself after his last run and seems to be best fresh. He is back to himself now and could go hurdling as the autumn progresses. It has been a great day.

He got a great ride as I told Rachael he wouldn't like the ground but I hoped he might be quicker than the others, and she obviously took that on board. She said he jumped great and that's her first winner for me. It was a weak enough race but coming down the road you couldn't be confident with a horse who wants good ground. Maybe it is so wet though that it is probably loose - they seemed to gallop away through it. We bought him in a claimer (for €20,000) and we were happy the whole way through but he never turned up at Haydock the last day. I had four or five juveniles and wanted to use him to get a line through the other ones but he ran terribly on the day. He will run through the summer and mix hurdling with the Flat.

I was disappointed with him the last day in Leopardstown when I think they went slow and I think he is still green. He was working very well and there is more to come from him. We'll see where he ends up, he'll go for a better handicap now and he is still a big raw horse who jumps very well. It is great to get one for Mick who has persevered with her,. She always showed hints of ability and while we thought she'd win a race, she let me down a few times. We ended up stopping with her and giving her a complete break and this year she has come back better and stronger. Her work was good and had shown that she would be a different filly this year. She is bred to win an Oaks let along a 45-65 but at least she has won now and it is important she has won. You'd imagine there's another one in her and while she is in at Leopardstown tomorrow, it wouldn't be fair to run her.
