An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final ½ furlong when the winner Socially Shady (GB), ridden by Ben Curtis, interfered with Nikolayeva (GB), placed second, ridden by Theodore Ladd.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Socially Shady (GB) as the ground and momentum lost by Nikolayeva (GB) was less than the winning distance of a neck between the runners at the line.
The interference was found to be accidental as Socially Shady (GB) edged quickly left despite the riders best efforts, giving Nikolayeva (GB) a slight bump and shifting the filly marginally off its intended line.
2½ furlongs out, Thunder King (FR), placed third, hung quickly right causing Justified (GB), unplaced, to be carried off its intended line, which in turn moved Batalha (GB), unplaced, slightly off its intended line.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Thunder King (FR).
Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that Thunder King (FR), placed third, hung right under pressure.
