Noel Wilson had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Hayward Field (IRE) partially shod.
The winner, Strategic (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 11 June 2019 where the gelding finished seventh of nine, beaten 10½ lengths.
Eric Alston’s representative’s explanation that the gelding benefited from the step up in trip, was noted.
Following the race, Cam Hardie reported that Melabi (IRE), placed second, hung badly right-handed throughout.
Royston Ffrench reported that Enemy Of The State (IRE), placed eighth, hung left-handed.
