Jason Watson, the rider of the winner, Young Merlin (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 2 furlongs out.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong between the winner, Young Merlin (IRE), ridden by Jason Watson, and Buckman Tavern (FR), placed second, ridden by Luke Morris.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Young Merlin (IRE)’s placing as they found that the incident was the result of both horses leaning on to one another and bumping together before then running on straight to the line.
As a result, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame.
