Permission was given for Jacattack (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and go early to post and Willabell (USA) to wear a red hood to the start.
Leaving the stalls, Spark Of Magic (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly and shifted left-handed, carrying Soberton (GB), unplaced, onto Berrtie (GB), unplaced, which was tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Fantasy Master (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 31 August 2020 where the colt finished eighth of thirteen, beaten by 12¾ lengths.
Michael Appleby’s representative’s explanation that Fantasy Master (GB) had appreciated running on turf, this being its first race on the surface, was noted.
Fantasy Master (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Willabell (USA), which started co-second favourite and finished unplaced, beaten by 12 lengths, was considered.
The representative of John Gosden could offer no suitable explanation for the filly’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Willabell (USA) shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, David Allan reported that High Security (GB), which started co-second favourite and finished third, hung left-handed under pressure.
