- Stewards Report
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Golden Drumlee (IRE), ridden by Mr N McParlan and trained by Sean McParlan which was settled in rear and stayed on in the home straight under apparent tender handling to finish sixth of eleven, beaten 16 lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing found the gelding to be sound, but had a wound on its right fore cannon bone.
The rider stated his instructions were to drop the gelding in and get him switched off and into a rhythm as the gelding has run keenly in the past.
He added that he was instructed to make his effort leaving the back straight, but the gelding had continued to hang and jump right and had then made a mistake at the final hurdle which he had reported at scales.
Having heard his evidence, his explanations were noted.
