Mr B. O'Neill, rider of Generalisation trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount boiled over at the start and was keen throughout the race

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Pilot Station, ridden by Sarah Kavanagh, and trained by P.A.Fahy. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Sarah Kavanagh, stated that her instructions were to settle her mount in the early stages as he can be free, to get him balanced and to do the best she could. She added that her mount had a record of falling and she wanted to get him jumping and over the last hurdle before she made her final effort. P.A.Fahy, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride considering the riders inexperience. He outlined the difficulties in settling his charge and stated he had a wind operation. He also added he told the rider not to put the horse into the race in the early stage. He felt his charge could have of been nearer to the pace early on and have finished closer. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that the animal was post race normal

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

A hurdle race for four yrs old and upwards that are EBF eligible and have been purchased under the hammer as an unraced three or four yrs old at Public Auction in Ireland or Great Britain for E30,000 or less at a recognised National Hunt Sale and that have not been purchased at Public Auction in Ireland or Great Britain for E30,001 or more, at any time and that have not won a *race or a Point-To-Point Steeplechase in Ireland or Great Britain
