An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the back straight on the final circuit involving Sunny Express (IRE), which was later pulled up, ridden by Gavin Sheehan, and Macfin (IRE), placed second, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies.
Sheehan was suspended for 5 days for improper riding as he manoeuvred his mount left-handed causing Macfin (IRE), who was upsides at the time, to become tight for room against the rail when he ought reasonably to have known that interference would take place as a result of his actions.
The performance of Seemingly So (IRE), which started joint second-favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
L J Morgan’s explanation that the gelding appeared to have lost its confidence having fallen at Perth on its previous run on 28 July 2021, was noted.
