- Stewards Report
The Stewards held an enquiry into running and riding of HARVEST DAY, placed eighth, ridden by Nathan Evans, who appeared to not ride a finish. Evans stated that HARVEST DAY is a horse who needs cover and due to the slow early pace and the field congregating unusually towards the nearside rail he therefore became trapped in a pocket racing alongside the equally well travelling DIRCHILL (IRE). He added that he had no room to manoeuvre without causing interference and was continually denied a clear run from 2 furlongs out to the line, a fact which he reported at scales. Having heard his evidence, the Stewards noted his explanation and ordered HARVEST DAY to be routine tested.
The Stewards noted that SECRETINTHEPARK, placed sixth, plunged forward as the gates opened causing John Fahy to be slow to remove the blindfold. However, as the gelding was not slowly away and made the running, they took no further action.
