The winner, Caid Du Lin (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ascot on 23 November 2019 where the gelding was pulled up.
The representative of Dr Richard Newland’s explanation that Caid Du Lin (FR) had appreciated the change in tactics to being ridden more prominently was noted.
Caid Du Lin (FR) was routine tested.
The performance of Hatcher (IRE), which started favourite and finished sixth, beaten by 33 lengths, was considered.
Dan Skelton could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Hatcher (IRE) was running off a 6lb higher handicap mark and was also contesting a more competitive race on this occasion.
