An enquiry was held to consider interference heading into the final bend when DEEDS NOT WORDS (IRE), placed third, ridden by Franny Norton, interfered with MAZEL (IRE), placed second, ridden by Shelley Birkett, which in turn caused interfered to THUNDERBELL, placed fifth, ridden by Theodore Ladd. Danny Brock, the rider of BOND STREET BEAU, unplaced, and Adam Kirby, the rider of SEA SHACK, unplaced, were also present in the enquiry, but it was found that they were not involved in the interference. Norton was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had manouevered left-handed for a gap when there was insufficient room to do so, making contact with MAAZEL (IRE) which was left tight of room against THUNDERBELL on its inside, and causing Birkett to have to take a significant check.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that Shane Kelly, the rider of MR ANDROS, placed eighth, trained by Brendan Powell, had weighed in at 8st 12Ibs, having weighed out at 8st 1Olbs. The rider, the trainer's representative and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed. Kelly was suspended for 2 days for weighing in at 2lb overweight.
