- Stewards Report
Panic Attack (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the race.
The winner, Panic Attack (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cheltenham on 13 November 2020 where the filly finished fourteenth of the fifteen finishers, beaten by 39½ lengths.
David Pipe’s explanation that Panic Attack (IRE) appeared to have benefitted from a short break since the filly’s previous run was noted.
Panic Attack (IRE) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider whether Fergus Gillard, the rider of Chiavari (IRE), placed eighth and beaten by 104½ lengths, had continued in the race when the mare appeared to be exhausted.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer stated that a post-race examination of Chiavari (IRE) immediately after the race revealed the mare to be tired but not exhausted.
The rider’s explanation that rather than being tired Chiavari (IRE) had idled on the approach to the final hurdle and he felt that the mare always had enough in the tank to finish its race was accepted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Mystic Dreamer (IRE), which started favourite and finished third, lost its right-hind shoe.
