The Stewards interviewed A. McCurtin, rider of Broder, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that A. McCurtin was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended A. McCurtin for 2 racedays
The Stewards requested a report from John J. Walsh, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Broder, placed first, as compared with its recent run. John J. Walsh reported that his charge disappointed on it's most recent run at Tipperary 23rd May and no post race abnormality was found. He added that in general his yard had been in and out of form but noted his most recent team of runners at Cork had all run well and this appeared to be a positive sign for the overall well being of all his horses. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
