Permission was given for Country Kitten (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post wearing a red hood.
The performance of The Skiffle King (IRE), which started second-favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
Adam Pogson’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the Soft, Heavy in places ground on this occasion and would prefer a faster surface, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination of The Skiffle King (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Country Kitten (IRE), compared with its previous run at Fakenham on 2 February 2023 where the mare was pulled up on Good ground was considered.
Max Young’s explanation that Country Kitten (IRE) had settled better in the preliminaries on this occasion and had appeared to be better suited to the slower ground of Soft Heavy in places on this occasion, was noted.
The mare was routine tested.
