An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference near the half furlong marker when the winner, JABOTICABA (FR), ridden by Wayne Hutchinson, interfered with WORLD PREMIER (FR), placed second, ridden by Barry Geraghty, which in turn interfered with COUGAR KID (IRE), placed third, ridden by Miss Brodie Hampson. The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved JABOTICABA (FR) placing as WORLD PREMIER (FR) was hampered on two occasions, causing the gelding to become unbalanced before rallying on the run to the line to be beaten a diminishing nose margin. However, in relation to COUGAR KID (IRE), the Stewards considered that the ground lost as a result of the interference suffered was less than the official margin of 1 ½ lengths and a nose. As a result, the placings were revised as follows: First, WORLD PREMIER (FR), Second, JABOTICABA (FR), Third, COUGAR KID (IRE). Hutchinson was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed without timely correction, hampering WORLD PREMIER (FR), which in turn caused COUGAR KID (IRE) to be checked against the rail
