Lambristo (IRE) wore ear plugs but one became dislodged during the race.
The Stewards raised a query with Johnny Farrelly prior to Race 1 as to why he was running Druim Samhraidh (IRE) over 2m 167y, after Mitch Bastyan, who had ridden the gelding on its previous run at Huntingdon on 17th March 2021 over 2m 4f 145y, reported that the gelding may be suited by a step up in trip.
Farrelly informed the Stewards that he was happy to try the gelding again at this trip as he had finished first past the post in a bumper over the 2m 1f when trained in Ireland.
He added that as this was only the second fixture of the year at Newton Abbott, he was keen to run Druim Samhraidh (IRE) here on the fresher ground when compared to those courses who were coming toward the end of their seasons, and that therefore this race and trip represented the only option.
Following the race, Mitchell Bastyan reported that Druim Samhraidh (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed throughout.
